Bonded Seals

Bonded seals are composite washers with a metal outer ring and a moulded elastomer sealing lip around the bore. Tightening a bolt or threaded fitting compresses the lip while the metal ring limits deformation, producing a compact static seal at fasteners and fluid connections.

Questions about bonded seals

What should I send to identify bonded seals?

Send thread size and standard, inside and outside diameters, washer thickness, metal grade, elastomer compound. Confirm whether the inner rubber bead includes centring ribs and whether the washer seals under a bolt head or fitting shoulder. A clear photograph, drawing or readable reference can resolve details that dimensions alone do not show.

How should I select bonded seals?

Match the thread system, bearing face, metal corrosion resistance and elastomer to the fluid and temperature. Confirm the mating parts and operating environment before ordering, since an apparently similar size can use a different profile, material or internal arrangement.
